    Hi
I’m running sucuri 1.7.16 (or actually I was). My admin pages were running incredibly slow and often timing out with API or SSL error after 30-60 seconds (even though error message says 300 sec).
Just editing a post and publish could easily take 50 seconds pr update click.
I have disabled Sucuri plugin, and now post editing is Down to more normal 10 seconds pr update

Is there some kind of incompatibility with WP 4.4 and Sucuri or do we have to find the problem elsewhere

  • Duplicated here [1]; please read my response in that thread and also this one [2], follow the instructions that I suggested there. Some people have already said that these changes fixed the issue in their websites so I hope it also fixes yours; let me know if it works.

    Hi Yorman
The suggested links did not really Work for me. I actually tried them before posting the issue.
I the meantime I tried upgrading to version 1.7.17 and that sort of helped, but still not good enough.
Instead of updating posts taken 50 seconds it went Down to 25 seconds, but that is still way too slow when you edit a lot of blog post and pages etc.
So I’m back to having Sucuri disabled.
Maybe an option to disable it for admin interface while working on website in admin interface could be a nice option, unless the penalty for running Sucuri comes Down to let’s say 12-15 seconds instead of 10 (running with sucuri deactivated)

I understand, there are things that can not be fully controlled from the code that powers the plugin, for example the latency while sending HTTP requests from the server where your website is being hosted, as well as the DNS lookups, and even the execution time of the PHP interpreter; all these things together plus other variables that I did not mention may affect the speed of the script.

Without access to the server that is experiencing the slowness I could only suggest to disable certain things in the plugin to make it work faster, this includes the API communication from the “API Service” panel, the “IP Address Discoverer” located in the general panel, and one or more of the post types listed in the “Ignore Alerts” panel, all these options can be found in the plugin’ settings page.
