When you don’t want to use and configure the popup plugin, simply don’t click “Activate plugin” in your admin backend. I’ve never heard of a plugin that actually activates itself. Come on o.O

@thetravelguy – Why do you leave a 1 star rating instead of opening a support issue for this?

@kevinweber – First of all thanks for creating a nice plugin.

I have the same issue as thetravelguy. Sometimes when I make a leave intent on my website after enabling the wBounce plugin I see your default modal with the “Do you love this plugin as much as I do?” text coming from the function create_modal_content_default().

Having this functionality to default to your modal is probably what seems spammy to some of the dissatisfied users here.

When is this default modal loading? And probably you should consider instead not showing a modal rather than your own modal – which anyway doesn’t make any sense to the users visiting our websites ??

Thanks @henrikdamdk for your more detailed explanation!
I actually show a default popup so that someone who installs the plugin sees a result right away. However, of course, the placeholder should not be displayed when you have defined your own content already.

Do I get you right, that you have inserted your own content in the admin panel but the placeholder appears sometimes still?

I write this issue on my list but I cannot do anything before October because I’m writing my Bachelor thesis right now. So feel free to suggest a thought-out solution and (optionally) send a pull request on Github.

    Best regards,
    Kevin

    Thanks for your answer Kevin.

Yes, this is what happened. However I think the issue was related to caching. After now trying again and letting it be on there for a while, the default modal does not seem to show up anymore. So I think it’s good ??

One suggestion could be to show the default modal only to admins, and then display a message like “Congrats, wBounce is succesfully installed and triggered. Now go ahead and set up your own modal…”

Good luck with your bachelor’s thesis ??
