Subscription – Product of the Month Functionality

    I’m looking to setup functionality equivalent to a product of the month club in WooCommerce. People would sign up for a $50 per month subscription and are given a new set of products on my site each month.

    I know most subscription plugins work well out of the box with a monthly subscription to Product X every month, and each month an order is created in the system for Product X. Basically I’d like the product(s) that make up the subscription orders to change each month without needing to create new subscriptions each month and have people re-signup.

    You’re right, with most subscription plugins out there the process of choosing a new product when the subscription is already active isn’t straightforward enough. If you’d like to offer a new set of products each month on your site – most likely this kind of functionality would have to be custom coded. There are a few possible options:

    1. If you’re offering a fixed set of new products each month without the possibility for your customers to choose a configuration – you could simply sell a generally named subscription product and then announce new sets of products via emails.

    2. If you need your users to be able to actually choose new products or combinations of products – you could utilise and possibly modify the subscription switching flows offered by subscription plugins, such as the subscription switching flow of WooCommerce Subscriptions.

    3. Alternatively, you could use a plugin like Smart Coupons to automatically generate a set number of coupon codes per month which your customers could use to choose and “purchase” their products for the month for free.

    In any case, the procedure of choosing monthly products when a subscription is already active will most likely be quite similar to a new purchase flow.

    You might be able to find a plugin that works exactly like what you’ve described, but I’m not aware of such plugin.
