Until your recent update which changed the “Subscribe” and “unsubscribe” it had worked very well. However, got the “Subscribe” button back by enabling it in the control panel, BUT no email’s are sent to users when there is a new posting you have subscribe too.

In your control panel I have used the two test email options and they work.

I can only assume that a problem was created when the subscription section was changed.

Can you please look into this problem.

ok, can you explain what you mean by ‘However, got the “Subscribe” button back by enabling it in the control panel’

After a recent update the “Subscribe” link disappeared from the forum which would normally appear at top right of a thread.

I went into “Subscriptions Management” and noted that it was not enabled, so I checked the box and saved it and the subscriptions link returned at the top of the threads. So you could now toggle between “Subscribe” and “Unsubscribe” as you could do previously.

However, when subscribe was enabled on any thread and someone posted you did not get an email.

    ok, thanks for that.

so users are still not getting emails – yes?

and of so, what have you got set in

    dashboard>settings>bbp style pack>subscription emails>item 3 ?

In item 3 — Roles to Email — All roles are checked (9 roles) except “Blocked” and “Spectator”

    Thanks, that’s useful,

I’m pretty sure I know the cause of you needing to check Subscriptions Management – you shouldn’t need to, so I’ll check and fix that.

and finally (sorry nearly 40 years in IT support makes me re-check key info) can you confirm that emails are still not working ?

I have just rechecked and no emails have been sent to anyone..

thanks, I’m working on it, but might be a short while to get to an answer – sorry

Keith. I’m starting to think I am going mad, but could you do the following

    deactivate style pack

post a topic/reply where you will see an email

    check you get the email

    reactivate the style pack plugin

repeat the post and check email

I just did this and the emails came back, but no idea why, just need to see if you can replicate this and if you do then work out why !!

I am getting a little confused myself being logged into my admin account where I get lots of emails unrelated to the forum. Perhaps I should setup a standard account to be sure of the results.

I use WP-SMTP so I can see the log of all emails which go out from the site and lots of people that subscribe and have posted did not get an email including me.

I did what you suggested and no email was received when deactivated or when subsequently re-activated your style pack.

I got one of the moderators to test and he did not get an email either.

I should also say that no changes to the settings were made to bbp style pack settings until the problem started when I enabled “Activate Subscriptions Management” and in item 3 — Roles to Email — All roles are checked (9 roles) except “Blocked” and “Spectator”

I was surprised that when I first went to “Activate Subscriptions Management” when researching the problem, it was not enabled. But your previous post implies that it does not need to be enabled.

Since making my last posting a moderator has reported that he is getting email’s from my test posting. So maybe what I did under your instruction has worked after all.

My last posting is in moderation.

thanks, I think there is an issue on update which is cleared by something happening (switching subscriptions management on is a red herring, I’ve eliminated that), I’m still looking at what fixes it, but once fixed, it seems to hold so do come back f you get a further issue, and I’ll do some more digging.

thanks for reporting and your help.

I am continuing to look at this, so I’ll come back when I get somewhere !

    Keith,

I’ve done some further kicking of this code, and I cannot replicate your problems on my site, I did find that one email address I was testing with put all emails into their spam folder, so for a while I thought I was finding an issue.

Do come back if you still think you have an issue, I’m happy to look at again if needed

    Robin,

Well, I am pleased to say that since I took the actions you suggested it appears to be working correctly and so far I have not had any negative feedback.

Thank you very much for all your work on this and other functions of your style pack.

    Keith..
