Subscription confirmation for guests

    re: Disable subscription confirmation for guests in:
    Dashboard > Comments > Settings admin page

    This option is set to ‘on’ by default.

    I understand this set to on for ‘registered users’ but for guests, but wouldn’t this be better set to off so that any general visitors or bots are then required to use the double-opt in method to protect them from spamming me?

    Hi @ratamatcat,

    If you’d like to disable the subscription confirmation you should keep the option enabled.

    ok I made ‘…for guests’ grayed and ‘…for registered Users’ green; I only want guests to have to confirm. Because guests are the likely spammers

    For the email address that is used under ‘Notify comment author once comment is approved’ (on the same screen) which email is used? is it simply the email under Settings > General > Email Address

    Hi @ratamatcat,

    In the case of guests, the notification will be sent to the email that the guest mentions in the email section of the comment form.

    In the case of regular users, the notification will be sent to email addresses they filled during registration.

    Sorry for the late response.

    You can find the email templates on Dashboard > Comments > Phrases > Email admin page.

    i.e. what is the email the guest or user will see it is from. Is it my email shown in General Settings?

    It’s the noreply@yourdomain email address.
