Have you come up with a solution to the problem when a customer uses a gift card when a subscription is created? This means that the first order will be NOK 0,- and that customers are not be able to enter payment information or getting error. We want to use one payment provider, but now to use 2 because of this problem.

It’s the same problem with regular WooCommerce discount codes. If a discount makes the first subscription fee 0 then only customers who are approved for Klarna invoice will be able to complete checkout (as the payment method selector does not show most of the time). Other customers are rejected and unable to enter their card info for automatic billing uponon renewal.

    Hi lykkelig,

We are aware of this problem also existing on regular WooCommerce discounts. We have contacted Klarna regarding this and their engineers are looking into it.

    Hi,

We got a reply from Klarna now regarding this. They answer: “This is by design and is supposed to happen. We do not support order that have 0 amount. The lowest amount we accept is 1 SEK”.

?For users to be able to choose a payment option in the checkout, the minimun amount have to be 1(kr).

?We tested ourselves with 0 kr order amount and in those cases where no payment methods was shown, it was defaulting to invoice in Klarnas system.

That makes sense for normal orders, @krokedil, but with recurring payments it’s fairly common to start with a free trial. Customers should still be able to set up their payments to keep things in line with the smoooth payments advertised.

It does not make sense to reject all customers who aren’t eligible for Klarna invoice by default just because the first payment is 0. Forcing the invoice option (for those who qualify) without notifying the customer may not be the best practice either. This is probably worth further discussion with Klarna.

Per comment from @krokedil above, we are reviewing how to best support 0 value pay now orders. We appreciate the patience regarding this and will provide an update once a decision has been made.

    Hi,

Klarna does now have an update in their system to support for selecting payment method for recurring orders with 0 amount on the initial payment.

At the moment this feature is not activated by default. If you would like to test it please get in touch with Klarna so they can turn this on for your MID.
