This subscription page is forcing the logged out visitor to register before they can subscribe to any category on this form.

I don’t see anywhere in the STC settings to disable site registration. All the site owner wants, is for users to be notified of blog updates. They shouldn’t have to register to the site to get that. Jetpack used to offer a “subscribe to this blog” email slot, but when I was setting up Jetpack for this site owner, I didn’t see that option anymore so we went with this plugin instead. We don’t want unnecessary site registrations when all we need is for visitors to be added to a notification list that fires every time a blog article is written.

Where do I go to disable site registration for this plugin?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I Looked at the link you provided and I think this is not from the plugin “Subscribe to Category”.

For all people that read this: STC does not register users. It keeps a list of email addresses and the subscribed categories for as long as the subscriber is not unsubscribing. It does not keep any other data. The moment a subscriber unsubscribes the email is deleted from the database. Leaving no trace at al.

Kind Regards, Sidney van de Stouwe author of the plugin “Subscribe to Category”

All is very well explained in the STC User manual which you can download from:

You looked AFTER I had changed over to another service.? I don’t stop working on something when clients need answers now, not next week

And it says nothing about logged out users, only logged in users.

A logged out user is for STC the same as a not logged in user. Whenever the email field is empty it means the user is not logged in to the site. But the user still can enter his email address and tick categories and he will be noted as subscriber. The only difference is that this user has to confirm the subscription by replying to an confirmation email.

I also think a response time of 2.5 hours is pretty fast. If you cant wait for an answer why bother me with the question.

If the person watching happens to be around when I ask, great, if not, I keep going. I don’t know when you are and aren’t around. Same with any other developer. If you are on when I need an answer, that works for both of us and the client. If you aren’t, I keep on going.

But your form was demanding a login as I typed in the test visitor email address. Throwing up the wordpress login form as I was halfway through typing the email and I’m a fast typer. Perhaps update your user info in the manual to reflect what you said here, for future reference.

My form is never demanding a WordRress login form. So this must have come from somewhere else.

The plugin is free and I find it strange that you expect immediate answer

The manual is clear about the subscription and does not need amending.

I herewith close this discussion and will no longer respond on items written in this thread.
