Subscribers keep on increasing even without my consent

  • Hi,
    Please let me know if it is a security issue. My subscribers keep on increasing even without my permission. They are all fake subscribers. I don’t have any plugin that allows that on my website.
    I used to hire freelancers for some time some months ago. I have changed the password for ‘user’ and Administrators yesterday. Still, I see an increase in one subscriber today. Is my site compromised? If yes, what can be done?
