    Hi mlys,

Are you using only the MailChimp for WordPress plugin, or have you integrated it with another one (Contact Form 7 for example)? Those welcome emails should be sent by MailChimp itself, which can also take a bit of time sometimes when their servers are busy. Let me know please and we’ll debug further!

I have another plugin installed, (Form Maker) for my contact us form, do they conflict with each other?

Have you integrated our plugin with that one? If yes, please let me know how you went about this process. Can you show me the code you’ve used or direct me to the link of the page this form appears on?

    Hello Mlys,

If you are using our plugin’s form by itself (i.e. without integration with other forms) then in order to send your customers “Welcome Email” you would have to disable “Double Opt-in” option by going to your WordPress admin and then “MailChimp for WP > Forms”.

Can you please confirm if you have already done this and still the customer is not getting welcome email. Can you also please share with us the link where you have placed our form?

Yes, i confirm that i have selected ‘No’ to the Double Opt-in and ‘Yes’ to Send Welcome Email.

    Hey mlys,

Can you go to MailChimp Dashboard > Lists > Your list > Settings > List fields and *|MERGE|* tags and see if there are any fields other than email set to required? If that’s the case, turn them all off except for email, and try again. Don’t worry, we’ll get there eventually ?? there are just a few things that we have to eliminate.

Only email field is required, the rest are not. Thanks for testing out, i’ve removed your mail from the subscription list, so you can try again. Any other things i need to check?

    Hi mlys,

Ines and I just looked into this and we actually discovered that for the Top Bar add-on, there was no setting called “Send Welcome Email”. We definitely get where the confusion comes from so we’re now working on adding one, where it will default to the option selected in MailChimp for WP > Form Settings.

If you’re in a hurry to get this fixed, you can download the development version of the plugin from GitHub and use that. We’ll try to release an update containing that fix this week. ??

Hope that helps. If not, let me know!

Thank you Danny & Ines!! I saw the update and installed that, the welcome email works now!

Thanks for the great help, you guys are really efficient and prompt in resolving my issue *thumbs up*

Perfect mlys, thanks for keeping us updated & glad to hear that that worked!

If you have a quick minute to spare, please leave a plugin review here and here. It would make us quite happy. ??

    Hi all,

I have updated MailChimp plugin to the latest version but it is still not working for me. I am using contact form 7 with hidden subscribe button.

    <p><font style="font-size:13px">Your Name*<br />
        [text* your-name] </font></p>

    <p><font style="font-size:13px">Your Email* <br />
        [email* mc4wp-EMAIL] </font></p>

    <input type="hidden" name="mc4wp-subscribe" value="1" />

    <p>[submit "Join"]</p>

User details will store into MailChimp database but it will not send out the Welcome Message from MailChimp. I disabled Double opt-in and enabled Send Welcome Message. Can anyone help please? I need to solve this asap.
