• Hi All: Relatively new to WP.
Can someone explain the difference between a subscriber, a user and a registered user? I have searched the forum and docs but still do not understand.
How does one make a subscriber a registered user (assuming my question even makes sense?)
    Thanks,
    Harold

  • A user is a random visitor to your site.
A subscriber/registered user is someone who had signed up to your site.

This might help to shed some light on it. ??

Thanks for the info. Am still a little confused. Under tools->subscribers->current subscribers, I have some folks who are public subscribers and some who are registered subscribers.
Question: How did some become registered subscribers?
Question: How can I convert public subscribers to registered subscribers?
    Thanks,
    Harold

Is this a self-hosted WordPress site or a wordpress.com site?

This is self-hosted, on my Synology DS210j. I have installed 3.0.4 with four plugins (Akismet,NextGEN Gallery,Role Scoper, and Subscribe2.) using Ocular Professor 1.3.1 as the theme.

All I can think of is that you created one or more new roles via Role Scoper.
