I have the premium version but the plugin keeps registering my subscribers as [email protected] when the use the miniorange to login. That means I cannot communicate with my subscribers because they dont really have email accounts at “social-user.com” This is HORRIBLE. I just found out yesterday and there are already over 1000 subscribers. HOW and WHERE do we set the plug in so when visitors use the login they are registered with the same email that they have at facebook, google+, twitter, instagram etc. etc.

    Hi,

Having premium plugin does not help in getting email addresses. Nor do we restrict you from getting email address in the free plugin. What you have already tried in free plugin is what you get in the premium plugin and more, the base functionality does not change.

If email address was an important aspect of you using Social Login, you should have contacted the support for their suggestion, they would have definitely suggested you to not use Instagram.

Outlining the reasons here, there are three things required to get the user’s email address:

    1. Configuring the plugin: this involves only selecting the applications. We try to enforce getting email for all applications
    2. User permission: User logging in should make their email address public. If user does not permit to share it, we can’t have it.
    3. Application support for email: Applications should support sharing email address. Instagram does not have the provision to share email addresses.

Also, if the user tries to log in through Facebook, Google+, Twitter and they have the same email address, the user logs in through the same account. As mentioned above, Instagram does not return email address, so a new account is created for Instagram users, if they haven’t already registered.

    Thanks,
    miniOrange Team

This is not about INSTAGRAM. 99% of my users are logging in via facebook and your damn plugin is registering them as @social-user.com. There is something horribly wrong with your plugin. I even logged in via a facebook account that has a public email and your plugin registered me as @social-user.com!!! There are better AND FREE plugins out there so if you are not going to look into it I will simply cancel my subscription.

    Hi,

Of course, we will look into it. Send us an email at [email protected] or send a query through the plugin so that we look into this further. We will respond to you as soon as possible.

We at our end are not able to reproduce the error you are facing.

    Thanks,

I just realized that I’m having the same problem and now I cannot communicate with many of users. I just got done with a registration period and had nearly 2,000 users sign into our site – many of which I cannot communicate critical information. I wish I had known this going in!!! Please help me fix it!!

Oh, and to top it off, we’ve sent out newsletters to our subscribers. Anything at @social-user.com is bouncing (DNS Error: No valid MX host) every time and lowers our IP reputation that we pay for. I’m very very upset about this as well. Bad rep and can’t email some subscribers at all very needed information!

And they are still denying it instead of fixing the problem. I had a successful but expensive campaign with lots of user signing in with their social media account but unfortunately all were registered as @social-user.com. I bet all the users of this plug-in are having the same problem but they dont realize it. Is it possible that mini-orange is intentionally capturing our users for their own marketing purposes? That will be illegal and I am seriously thinking of complaining to the FTC.

Out of nearly 2,500 registrations on my site, only about 12 were using that @ address. They replied to me and said that Instagram was a problem as it didn’t release email addresses. Mine were not using Instagram. However, it is entirely possible that the end user opted not to share their email address. So, I truly doubt that mini-orange is not stealing email addresses. I have no proof one way or the other but I don’t think complaining to the FTC would warrant any action.

Dear user, although you do not respond to emails in a timely manner (when we asked what email id you used to get the premium plugin, you did not respond), I will still answer your questions, statments and accusations here.

There are various reasons why email ids will be hidden from you! If I am registering on your site and I dont want to release my information OR if i am worried about my privacy and I have some privacy settings THEN MY EMAIL ID WILL NOT BECOME AVAILABLE TO YOU! ITS NOT IN MINIORANGE OR ANYONES CONTROL IF THERE IS A SETTING THAT IS PREVENTING YOU FROM GETTING YOUR USERS EMAILS. THATS CALLED PRIVACY!

Some users may not even know what privacy settings they have on social accounts! No one goes into their account settings everyday! So thats why they may not explicitly remember denying that information, but because of what their settings are, ITS STILL NOT GOING TO BE AVAILABLE.

There are ways to solve this problem, like you could have a registration form which could automatically fill up with whatever information you get from your social provider and one extra mandatory filed called email -id…and unless the user provides it, you dont let him move forward. This is custom work and you should hire someone to do this for you.

    You are welcome!

About your accusations, that someone is stealing your information, well first thing first – 1. Dont use something if you think they are stealing your information! Its that simple. However you may have liked the features and pricing so much that it made it difficult to move away. 2. Thats not what we do! Instead we spend time on developing a plugin that is one of the best social login plugins that almost anyone can install and use! That’s why you used it! But you should go ahead with your complaints because you are free to do so and you are also free to use other plugins if this is not something you like!

“1. Dont use something if you think they are stealing your information! Its that simple. However you may have liked the features and pricing so much that it made it difficult to move away. ”

That is idiotic and arrogant statement. You have to use it to discover the nefarious underpinning. After which, yes I deleted you crap even though I had paid for it. For 4 weeks now I use a free one which BTW returns the correct email. I already have 231 real emails!

ADVICE: tell us who owns @social-user domain. If it is you Why cant you replace it with a null value (so that no email at all is captured) and that way there will be no bogus fake email addresses in our list.
