Subscriber Profile Update not working with addition of Group checkbox

Our form initially did not include an option for a subscriber to indicate a preference (group). Some subscibers will return and use the modified form to make the choice. If I don’t allow your plugin to update existing subscribers, the profile cannot be changed. If I do allow it, regardless of whether Replace Interest Groups is set to Yes or No, the user receives the successful signup message (…you will receive a confirmation email…) and the profile gets updated, but no confirmation email gets sent. This is confusing for the user.
Per Mailchimp, when a profile is being updated on a signup form, they should be redirected to a form that shows a link to update their profile. See this:
