I recently added my private email address as a subscriber which I can see under user-> settings. However, I then received an email and login information to that private email address with a username and password to log into my dashboard.

I am feeling uneasy as I though subscribers would not get access to my dashboard where potentially all the information for my website can be accessed.

I am hesitant to add other subscribers now. I only added my private email because I was testing the PopUp by Supsystic Plugin.

Shall I simply delete myself as a subscriber, and leave my work email as admin?

Also, I cannot get my wordpress to change my primary site. I change it, but when I click on save, it return it to a wordpress primary site I created ages ago which is of no use to me. Therefore when wordpress users go to my profile, they do not see my current site, but the old one with no information.

    Please help!

Subscribers see the dashboard so they can manage their profile. They don’t have access to anything else.

When I login with the private email username and password that was sent to me, I can see my last activity, and comments, and on the upper left side it says abusybeeslife dashboard (that’s my website), on the right the gravatar has my private email name there. I dont understand how my private email is linked to this.

Also, does this have to do with the fact that I installed PopUp by Supsystic?

You logged in with your private email which you are registered as a subscriber. You should see the subscriber screen which has profile and dashboard but what is in the dashboard is controlled by screen options. It is not the same dashboard as Admin sees. There might be a plugin to do away with that screen but why log in as a subscriber anyway unless you want to allow them to post.

    Sorry. Very new to wordpress.

I wanted them to subscribe to a newsletter and post comments.

    Not post a blog story.

Added myself with private email just to test it out first.

I will read the link you sent.

What about saving my primary site? Is there a solution? I asked the question in my first comment.

    Thank U for your help.

I go right to your site so Dashboard>>General Settings>>WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) must be correct. Where are you trying to change it?

Sorry I got that wrong. A Subscriber can only comment (and in this case, get your newletter).
