Subscribe2 10.18.5 on WordPress 4.3.1. I had to change the display name of a category recently – I changed just the display name, not the slug name. I checked on the subscriber’s options page after doing this, and the category appeared there with it’s new name, and was checked as it should be on my test account. However, the next time I added a post in that category, the emails were not sent to subscribers. Is there something else I need to do? How to fix?

    Thanks!
    Ed

If you didn’t change the slug then Subscribe2 should have coped with it fine – make sure it isn’t an excluded category in the Settings page.

It is not an excluded category (nor was it before I changed the category name). I’d love to test this but I have live subscribers on this list and even if I create a new category just for testing, most subscribers have ‘subscribe to new categories automatically’ checked, so they’d get my test messages. I don’t want to add confusion to the mix.

The email for the post in question was never delivered. If you can think of way I can test this, I’d love to hear it. Otherwise I’d ask that you test it yourself (create category, change name, do a test post/send) and let me know the results.

    Thanks,

I’ve tested on my install at home and I was unable to reproduce the issue.

I created a new category called ‘Test’ with a slug of ‘test’ and published a new post to that category – result was email notification to registered and public subscriber addresses.

Then changed the name of the category to ‘Not Test Anymore’ but left the slug the same, then created another new post – result was an email to registered and public subscriber addresses.

Thanks – in that case I’ll chalk this up to some issue with the mail server provided by the host and keep an eye on it.
