Subscriber cannot update password
-
Hello, I’m having an odd problem where one of my users cannot reset their password. I have registration disabled and I create all accounts. When I create an account I send the person a default password, such as password1. I require everyone to change their passwords once they log in.
Now, I’ve never had any problem changing my password and neither have the higher roles (Editors, Authors). However, I have one Subscriber who cannot change his password. I’ve asked him to do all sorts of things, such as clear his cache, delete cookies, use different browsers, etc. He still cannot reset his password.
What happens, precisely, is that he’ll enter a new password, say, password2, and the profile page will say the password has been updated. But when he logs out and logs in again, password2 will not work, but password1 will. It’s like the profile page accepted the change but didn’t adjust anything in the database.
I have been able to change his password and give him new ones, but he’s never able to change them himself. I’ve even tried logging in as him and changing it – which does work – but he can’t do it.
This is beginning to sound like a problem on his computer, but I recently had an Author use the Lost Password function because out of the blue his saved password wouldn’t work anymore.
Does anyone have advice, either for the Subscriber or about possible errors? I’ve also checked my phperror log and it doesn’t show any password-related errors.
