• I have searched for 4 days straight on here and on the web in general and tried so many configs… please help
I have a wp3 install with subscribe2 and i am not getting any email confirmations sent to people that try and subscribe to the blog.
i use godaddy with linux shared hosting.
ALL other emails work, test emails, post notifications etc…
just not the subscribe confirmation emails.
i have tried smtp mailer using gmail info, wp-mail-smtp with php and smtp.
several different email accounts with the above smtp plugins etc.. i have tried the mail debug plug in as well.
the best situation i get is with only subscribe2 installed, because all emails get sent except the confirmation. if i try the smtp plugins i start getting errors.
my question is this, does anybody out there have my same setup and what are you using to make it work.
wp3 subscribe2 godaddy with linux shared hosting.
    thanks

  • I am having a similar problem, no solution yet either but this is what I have:

    – Godaddy shared hosting
    – Subscribe2 plugin
    – WP Mail SMTP plugin

    Results:
    – WP Mail SMTP sucessfully sends out test emails, no problem, so the server settings are correct
    – Subscribe2 successfully sends mass email to subscribers directly, via the dialog under “Posts-> Mail Subscribers”
    – Subscribe2, not sending out ANY confirmation emails or ANY notifications of new posts. But new subscribers are added to the database, regardless.
-Godaddy says there is no problem on their end, that there are no email limits and no limits on BCC

I’m at a loss of what to try next…

    Solution, for me anyway:

the admin email for the blog needs to be on the same domain that the SMTP server settings are. for whatever reason, that made a difference. EVEN THOUGH i had set Subscribe2 to send out emails via another user on the blog whose email address was on the SMTP server.

    hope this helps!

(also i opened a different browser app to do a final test, because i think there were cookie issues.)

Any luck with this @travis10? Great thought from @redthinkingcap.

It appears that Subscriber2 needs to be set to send emails from the administrative email address on the blog. There should be settings in Subscriber2 where the administrative email address can be defined. Check to make sure it’s been set correctly there.

If you’re still having trouble, be sure you’re using the Go Daddy relay server – relay-hosting.secureserver.net and there are no conflicts from other plug-ins.

I am also having issues with the Subscribe2 wordpress plugin. I have been using this plugin for probably close to a year now and this is the 2nd time this issue has presented itself. Even after trying all the solution I found online, the only resolution was with an update to the plugin which was released a month or so after I ugraded and got the issue. It has been working fine now for quite a few months but, after a recent upgrade on the Subscrbe2 plugin – all “new post notifications” have stopped being sent. I have already tried the following with no resolve:

    1. changed the email address to one which matches the domain
    2. created a new admin user account and set that as the sender
    3. Changed the automation of emails from “per post” to “two times a day” – then back again.

I really need to resolve this asap for my client’s wordpress blog. Anyone have any new suggestions? My client is hosted on Godaddy’s Linux platform and using WP vers 2.9.2. If it matters at all, they have over 1k subscribers – not that I am aware of any maximum subscriber amounts.

    Thanks in advance everyone-

    @swytch

It appears that Subscribe2 has just released a bug fix patch in the last few days. If you haven’t already, you may consider upgrading to this. Additionally, it was mentioned that Subscribe2 was tested and functions on WordPress 3.0.1. If WordPress 2.9.2 is not necessary, you may consider an upgrade as this will also help keep the site safe having the most recent version of WordPress.

Having taken the steps you described, should you still be unable to to use the plugin, you may consider rolling back to the previous version which worked for you.

Let us know if you have success!

I too was having a heck of a time getting Subscribe2 to send emails. It took me a while to notice because it would send emails to the admin account when a new post was published but not to any subscribers. To get it to work:

    1) set subscribe2 to use the go daddy relay-server as noted above
    2) Under Subscribe2 Settings, I set “Restrict the number of recipients per email to” 1

Setting the number of email recipients to one did the trick for me!

GoDaddy doesn’t support external SMTPs. I found a nice solution to throttle email over a time period at . GoDaddy has a 1000 recipients per day limitation so this sorted out my problem. This works perfectly with Subscribe2.

Does anyone know step by step how to set subscribe2 to use the go daddy relay-server?

I purchased a SMTP relay account on godaddy but cannot locate anywhere in SUBSCRIBE2 or the WordPress control panel to configure it.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Bump .. I am having the same issue with godaddy Linux hosting.

I am having the same problems. I have done all the suggestions yet no emails. Any other suggestions? Should I call Godaddy support?

    Hi

Has everyone tried to add an email adress that is within your domain?
If your blog is example.com create a user that is sending the emails subscribe that has the email in the settings subscribe.com.

If you are trying to send out a subscribe email from
Gmail yahoo and so on it will not work.

Disregard my post. After not working for 5 or 6 posts it magically showed up today a mere minutes after posting here. I wish I could report what fix did it because I did everything on this list and more, so not sure what triggered it to work. There was a new upgrade also in between my outage, so that might have played a part.
