Subscribe2 not working, now commenting as well

    Hi,

    Running Atahualpa 3.4.4 theme on my site. Plugins used are AddThis, Advertising Manager, Akismet, PlusOne, SimpleCurrencyExchange, StatCounter, Thumbnail for Excerpts and WPtouch.

    A few months ago I installed plugin Subscribe2 to allow users to get notifications when site is updated. This never worked, filling in an e-mail address for notification results in nothing. I de-activated the plugin until I could find a solution.

    Now I’ve also noticed that no comments can be added to my posts, apparently for some weeks already (even spam reported by Akismet has fallen to zero this month).

    PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY THE CULPRIT.

    I’ve tried re-installing the database from a recent backup, but possibly because it is more recent than first installation of Subscribe2, it did not help. My other backup is from the beginning of this year – even if it would help eliminate the mess-up, I’ve no idea how to restore all the posts written later during the year.

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    Thanks for the excellent suggestion. Turned out it was the Simple Currency Exchange plugin which had become incompatible with the latest version of WP. Deleting it fixed the commenting issue.

    I’ve also now reinstalled Subscribe2 and it seems to be working all-right too.
