The subscribe to Google Calendar function has stopped working for me. Still works in iCal.

When I hit the button to subscribe in google, it comes up and acts like it’s loading. I see the calendar in the list on calendar.google.com, but no events ever come through.

I can add an individual event and that comes up. It’s when you try and subscribe to an entire calendar (or filtered calendar) that it.

Wordpress an plugin are both up to latest version.

  • Hi @benn205,

There is a bug regarding this issue that is open, and being investigated right now. There is no ETA for a fix, so I will udpate you once resolved.

In the mean time there is a workaround. You can download your calendar’s ICS file by scrolling to the bottom of the calendar and click on the Subscribe button, then click on Add to Timely Calendar, to download the events in a file called download.ics.

Then go to your google calednar, and click on the gear icon on the top/right, then Settings. Then click on Calendars on the top left, Import Calendar, Choose File.

Select your events file and follow instructions to import the events into your Google Calendar.

    Hi @benn205,

This bug has been fixed — Exporting your events to your Google calendar.
You will need to update your Core calendar to the latest version (2.5.22) by logging into your WordPress dashboard, then navigate to Plugins, the click on “Update Now” next to “All-in-One Event Calendar by Time.ly”

Once you are finished updating to the latest version, you will be able to export your event to your Google calendar by scrolling to the bottom of your calendar, then clicking on the [+Subscribe] button, then click on “Add to Google Calendar”.

Apologies for the delay in resolving this issue, and for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thanks for the update, but It’s still not working on my site. I’ve updated the plugin and I even unsubscribed from the calendar from in my Google Calendar. When I try to subscribe again, it appears as a subscribed calendar but no events show up.

If I click the URL for the subscribed calendar in Gcal, it downloads a .ics file that seems to had events in it.

I have the exact same problem. I have changed theme, disabled all plugins all to no avail. Your not alone out there. Either google is doing something to stop events going over or the plugin doesn’t work properly. Oh and I have the latest edition of the calendar so the fix isn’t working whatever it is.

    Hi @benn205,

Can you tell me if you are able to download the ICS file from your calendar — by clicking on the [Subscribe] button, then “Add to Timely Calendar”?

If that works, can you tell me the version of PHP your host is running? Ideally it should be 5.6 or newer as older versions are depricated and unsupported, which could cause this problem.

@sunny454 – It does download a 5.6mb .ics file that I’m assuming is loaded with all the events. I can alsosubscribe using the iCal link to load it into the MacOS Calendar app.

    I’m running PHP 5.6.30-0+deb8u1

    Hi @benn205,

Can I get you to login to your Timely account and click on the Get Help link, and provide this support forum URL and also your calendar URL so I can take a look?

    @sunny454 Done. Thanks.

    Hi @benn205,

After some testing, it looks like the reason your calendar is not being imported into Google is most likely due to the file size of the events (5.6 MB) — and Google Calendar is likely reaching the timeout threshold before your calendar is imported; thus it aborts.

The export from your Timely calendar has been verified that it does occur — Google never gets them.

I’m not sure how many of those events are past events but if you do a clean up and reduce the total number of events by deleting past events, it will likely solve your problem — which again is on Google’s end.

The alternative option is to contact Google support and ask them why your events are not being added to your Google calendar for a more direct answer.
