Subscribe not working

I have just installed this plugin as a sidebar widget but I cannot get it to accept a test email address. Please see screenshot.

NOTE I have entered a valid email address and clicked subscribe (changed email for screenshot), but for over 2 hours it has just hung there with the little circle on the right of subscribe going round and round
