When trying to submit our podcast to Spotify, I’m getting errors saying that the feed is missing a description and an email address. The Feed Description field (under Feed Settings) has content, but I do see that the <description> for the channel in the feed is missing. There is an email address listed with <itunes:email> – is there another place where an email address should be specified?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @gotigersjf,

I assume you’re using Podcast Channels, based on your feed URL? If so, make sure you’re updating the description in the Channel’s Feed tab and the email address in the Apple tab. The main settings will only work with the default podcast URL (/feed/podcast), but Channel, Category, and Post Type podcasting have separate settings areas.

No, I don’t have any of those enabled. We have a custom post type (sermon) that we have been attaching externally-hosted mp3 files to. Given that setup, should I be using a different URL to submit to Spotify? I do worry that changing to Podcast Channels or Post Type podcasting might mess up our existing connection to Apple Podcasts.

    Hi Jim,

    Please give this a try:
1.) Log in to your WordPress site
2.) Go to PowerPress >> Settings
3.) Find the Advanced Options menu at the bottom of the page and check the box next to Custom Podcast Channels; click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page
4.) Click the Podcast Channels link inside the lefthand sidebar menu
5.) Click the Edit link underneath Podcast (default channel)
6.) Go to the Other Settings tab; look for “sermon” (or something close to that name) in the Custom Post Type dropdown menu; select it in the menu and click the Save Changes button

Doing this won’t change your current feed URL. Please reply when you’ve done this so we can check your feed and make sure all of the correct tags are there.

OK, I have gone in and made these changes. Here’s the feed, and it appears to validate at Spotify: https://lifepointsc.org/feed/podcast
