Submit to basket doesn’t status update page

Hi
This is a testing site for a new shop I am building. I have most of the functionality working.
The issue is that when adding a product to the basket no status message is being returned and the page does not clear and refresh. The item is actually added to the basket but the user gets no confirmation or ability to view the basket.
If the user clicks for a second time on submit the error message ‘already added to the basket’ is shown.
