I also read this support post: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/support-questions/submit-listings-only/

Based on that, it looks like what I want to do is possible; it’s just not working correctly.

Some confusion about the “add listing shortcode” versus the “submit listing” shortcode that I am using. I got the shortcode from this post: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/valid-bd-shortcodes-2-1/

    Thank you!

    Hi MJ,

    Remind me–are you on 3.4 or 3.4.1dev?

The latter should fix any short code expansion problems (we had a typo in the code).

If you’re on 3.4, contact me to get 3.4.1dev, we’re about to release it, but you can have it right away: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/

    Hi Dave;

I’m on 3.4.1dev which fixed my mis-aligned display problems – a ticket from the other day.

    Other ideas?

    Best,
    MJ

Yeah, sounds like a bug if that’s the case. I’ll email to continue the conversation.

Did you receive my email yesterday?

    Hi MJ,

Yes, I did. After some review, I think I may know what the problem is.

When you copy something from a website and paste it into a page in WordPress, there are two places you can paste it in the page editor:
    – Under “Visual” tab, where it shows a WYSIWYG view of the page text.
    – Under “Text” tab, where it shows the raw HTML

I tested pasting the shortcode from my site into “Visual” and it LOOKS like it’s valid, but if I look under the “Text” tab, I see that some HTML garbage came along with it with some “pre” tags around the shortcode, preventing the expansion.

So I would manually enter the shortcode with the right brackets and delete what you have. I believe that will fix it.

    And…. YOU WERE RIGHT!

There was a spanstyle with color in between the brackets. Zapped it and voila!

Thanks so much. I’ll know to watch for this in the future.

    RESOLVED!

    You’re awesome.

I should have guessed that because I ran into the exact same problem with some theme shortcodes yesterday myself. ?? Glad it’s working.
