• I cannot figure out how to get rid of the submit for review button and replace it with publish/update.

I’ve read other concerns from users and understand what I need to to but I cannot figure how to get to my control panel and make theses changes.
I know the control panel is usually the home page of your dashboard but from there is where it goes down hill.

Also how do I add plugins?

I am completely new to wordpress and making websites/blogs in general. Can you tell?

Can someone give me a step by step of how to correct this problem!?

    Thank you!!

  • It sounds like you are logged in with Contributor status rather than Admin status. Are you the site’s admin?

Yes, I believe so. How do I know for sure that I am logged in as an Admin or Contributor?

    my website is teacherpress.ocps.net/emilylehmer

Can you access the Settings or Appearance menus?

    yes I can do that

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

I don’t have any activated plugins- or any plugins at all I should say.

I am on Twenty Eleven theme- I am using the BlogoLife template.

I had to go through my school system to get approved to have this site linked to our district. I am the administrator and have the only access to make changes. Because I had to get permission I’m not sure how to re-upload everything-do I delete my entire site?

When I try and change my theme on the Twenty Eleven layouts, and press live view- a screen pops up saying Cheatin’ uh?

Does this mean I’ve been hacked or something? I didnt use to do this.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Thank you Esmi, but I still have no clue what I’m doing or how to do any of the switching of the names and resetting everything. I’m trying to understand it but can’t seem to get the hang of it.

Is there anyway I can have someone do it for me? :-/

    You could try hiring someone.
