Two of the most useful Plugins on my? website are Sublanguage and Real Media Library (RML). With RML media files can be organised in a tree-like folder structure. Furthermore, it is possible to create links in one folder to a media file in another folder, thus avoiding duplication of files. When creating a link to a media file, all meta data fields are created in the link and the content of the metadata fields are also copied so it is not necessary to rewrite everything. It is however possible to have different metadata in the “link file” compared to the “original file”. This is very useful! Unfortunately, the metadata content in the fields created by Sublanguage are NOT copied; only the metadata fields are created. The consequence is that I manually have to copy and paste the content of the Sublanguage metadata fields from the “original file” to the “link file”, which is very time-consuming.

I have been in contact with the RML Plugin author who concluded that he found it too complicated to also copy the Sublanguage data when creating links in RML. From a Sublanguage Plugin perspective, is there something I can do to modify the process that creates the links so that all metadata including translations are copied?
