Subject line dropdown issue

    Since the recent update to v5.5.2 the subject line dropdown we have had no previous issues with no longer functions. A user can select from the dropdown list, but the resulting email shows no subject. Do I need to recode it to make it work again?

    The code is currently as follows:
    <label> Subject
    [select* Subject “Please Choose a Subject From the Dropdown” “General Inquiries” “Request One Free Class” “Report Problem with Registration or Payment”] </label>

    We are running WP 5.8.1
