Subdomain Wp-admin not working

  • Hello everyone!

    First, thank you for taking the time to check my issue!

    Some days ago, I decided to remodelate all my website layout, and for that, I followed some tutorials online on how to get rid of some things on cPanel… Manually.

    However, I guess that when we aren’t 100% sure of what we are doing, we end up screwing up.

    I did remodelate my website, and it works fine as in that time I unistalled and installed again wordpress and all that.

    However, I went to check my subdomain and it seems all great, it works as a normal user… but now, when I tried to access the wp-admin… it’s nor working. I mean, it comes up the wp-admin page but I entered the username and password and it says it’s invalid. Then, I closed and tried to access wp-admin and instead of the normal credentials page, it appears an error page of the subdomain saying: “Oops! That page can’t be found.

    It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try one of the links below or a search?”

    I guess I might have deleted some file I shouldn’t ?

    Does anyone know how to solve it?

  • Hello,

    It’s not a good idea to edit or remove any of your core WordPress files when making changes to your website, as it can (and mostly does) result in breaking many important features. However, there is a solution.

    Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

    Note that when replacing these existing files with fresh ones, it’s a good idea to delete the original files first before uploading the fresh copies.

    Thanks for the information! Yes, it wasn’t smart to delete some files…

    I did exactly what you told me and now it appears the WP-ADMIN page but it keeps saying that my username and password are incorrect. I did “lost password” however it treats me like a normal user and not “forgot admin password”….

    Not sure what to do after this?

    I contacted my hosting service and they solved the problem, thank you anyway for the help!! ??

    I installed it in the root with subdomains basis. If you go to main site it works. If you go to wp-admin in a subdomain gets 404 Error. it looks as if WP doesn′t installed in subdomain.

    I get the DNS wildcard. It resolves when I type a ping at by instante bannermatik.solomayoristas.net but if you type bannermatik.solomayoristas.net/wp-admin the server is not found.

    I don′t know if it is a WP issue or Server misconfigured issue
