• I want to install a second installation of wp in a subdomain on my site so I can have picklebums.com/shop with a separate wp install there.

I’ve set up the subdomain and installed wordpress via softalicious and it’s all there and working fine at https://shop.picklebums.com/ but when I try to view it via https://picklebums.com/shop/ I get a ‘page not found’ message. It appears to be the correct blog install but it’s not finding the home page…

    What have I done wrong?

All help and suggestions much appreciated.

    Kate

  • Why do you expect the store to show up at picklebums.com/shop? That’d be where a shop page created on picklebums.com would exist.

As of right now, the shop’s homepage is the subdomain you created – https://shop.picklebums.com/

What you really want to do is activate the network/multisite feature of WordPress and use subfolders, not subdomains. You don’t need a second installation of WordPress. Each site within the network can use its own themes and when you install plugins you can either activate them for the entire network or leave them to be activated on a site-by-site basis.

I ve site https://www.messefuar.com this site is about international fairs like Kanton Fuar? ( canton fair china) I want to have blog under this site but I want it under subdomain like blog.messefuar.com… my problem how to redirect or launch my existing wp blog fuarlar.wordpress.com… how to redirect my wp blog to my subdomain without moving the files..( in this case I should write every content once again because I dont know how to backup from www.remarpro.com

Cin, please create a new topic with your question. That’s the best way to get help.

Thanks for your ideas and suggestions everyone…

I’m assuming it should work like that because that is how my other subdomain works…

That address https://picklebums.com/shop/ is picking up the formatting and theme of the wp install on the subdomain so it appears to be accessing the subdomain somehow?

I don’t think I want a multi site install as I don’t want to mess with my current blog… I just want to add one separate install so I can keep stats and info separate for the shop site.

Any insight into why this subdomain is acting differently to my other one for my test site would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Kate
