At bluehost.com I created a subdomain under my main domain and successfully put in a WP install. I can access it at subdomain.rootdomain.com. However, when I try to go to subdomain.rootdomain.com/about, I get an “internal server error”

If I go to https://www.rootdomain.com/subdomain/about, everything is fine.

How do I configure this so that I can point to subdomain.rootdomain.com/about (or other similar addresses).

    Or does it matter? Thanks!

Is this a multisite install, or a standard install on a subdomain?

If it’s a multisite install, it won’t work on a subdomain. It must be installed directly on the domain, and then can be configured to work with subdomains/subfolders from there.

If it’s a standard install, check your site/home URLs and make sure they are properly set to the subdomain and have no extra spaces or slashes in them. Then reset your permalinks.
