Subdirectory location Multisite

WHen I use subdirectory vs subdomain option in multisite I see no subdirectory made. where is it? https://www.dancersholiday.com/contra-dance/ is associated with https://www.dancersholiday.com I see no contra-dance subdomain under dancersholiday.com/ on server. Should I just not worry about it?
I”m just playing round with this. The site is under construction.
