• On my shop page, I have category images showing. When you click a category, you see the subcategory images.

For example, I have a category “Bakery” and inside are 3 subcategories. However, the site only shows two of them. Inside the third, there are products that are all in stock and published. But when on Bakery shop page, the subcategory does not show!

    What’s happening?

I think this also has to do with another issue: I have the amount of products inside a category showing beside the category name. For a lot of categories, the number is incorrect. For example I have over 20 products inside my Alcoholic Drinks category, but it says there’s only 1 inside…. Strange!

I updated WooCommerce to 2.2 and once again some of my subcategories are hidden.

I noticed that if I have a subcategory that has 0 products in it, but does have sub-subcategories with products in it, it does not show.

    So for example

    PARENT CATEGORY
    – Subcategory (0 products)
    — Sub-subcategory (99 products)

Subcategory is INVISIBLE because it has 0 products, but the underlying subcategory is full of products so it SHOULD be visible when you’re in the parent category.

    +1 indira14’s comment.

Experiencing the exact same issue. The way around it I have found is to do the following:

Set the Subcategory’s display type to be: Subcategories
Assign at least one product to this subcategory
Assign all other products to the Sub-subcategory (where you actually want it)

This way it doesn’t list the product under the subcategory, but displays the link to the sub sub category.

    someone say sub?

Thank you mgilberties for your response! I could not figure this out, but your suggestion worked!

We did a similar thing to make the subcategories show. Glad you two ‘solved’ it too.

Still, I think WooCommerce should do something about this because this problem keeps coming back. Our structure was perfect, now we had do a unwieldy workaround to make everything show up correctly.

Same issue but assigning 1 product instead of 0 fixed it.

Same issue and assigning an invisible product to the category made it appear. This is frustrating seeing as this was not the issue with previous versions of woocommerce.
