    Hello.
I have such categories system within my catalog:

    -Category “Decor goods”
    -subcategory “Brandname1 goods”
    -subcategory “Brandname2 goods”
    -Category “Watches and clocks”
    -subcategory “Brandname1 goods”
    -subcategory “Brandname2 goods”

When I try to edit mapping parameters of Category “Decor goods” , I choose
for each shop subcategory an appropiate Google shopping category: “Home & Garden”.
And after saving mappings I see that “Home & Garden” was attached to the
-subcategory “Brandname1 goods” and -subcategory “Brandname2 goods” inside -Category “Watches and clocks”.

It turns out that mapping parameters saved with only names of categories? but nor for ID of these categories.

Please fix this if it’s possible. Because some shops have big catalogs with subcategories which can have same naming but different IDs. for example – subcategories can have name of brands and these brands can sell goods in different categories.

  • Hi neoleto,

I am not entirely sure what you mean. When creating a Google Shopping feed and doing the category mapping our plugin only ads the Google category ID’s to the product feed, which is enough for Google and as designed.

You mention the plugin saves category names and not ID’s. When you are creating a Google Shopping feed this should not be happening. In fact, as said, it is the other way around.

I’m try to explain more detailed.

First of all in plugin category mapping mode we can see only 2 levels of all woocommmerce’s categories. It’s not convenient, because in most cases category tree much deeper. It least it should be 3 or 4 tree levels available for group mapping in plugin (with arrow).

For the topic problem please look at the screensot image here
    from dropbox

In red we can see category levels.
In yellow we can see category names that are similar but in different categories.

The problem is while we map in plugin the first yellow category (Gastar (4)) as “4546 – Home & Garden > Decor > Clocks > Alarm Clocks” and save the mapping, we automatically get the same mapping for category (Gastar (1)) which actually is not alarm clocks but have to be the “3840 – Home & Garden > Decor > Clocks > Wall Clocks”.

It is not possible to map different google categories to different woocommerce categories which have the same names.

    Thanks

the link with image above was not working. please look it here

    Hi neoleto,

Thanks for explaining it into detail. We now understand the issue at hand.
You might be right that this is not working entirely correct so we will work on a fix, bear in mind that this is in a pretty complex part of the plugin code so it might take some weeks before it is fixed.

    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Eva
