I have a bizarre problem since the update.

When I click on the category “Jednohubky” in my shop, it should display 2 subcategories (Masove Jednohubky and Lehke & Vegetertianske Jednohubky). Instead I get the error that no products match this category. The English version of this category (Finger Food) displays its subcategories properly.

When I check the products that should be in these subcategories in the back end, they are all properly assigned to their subcategories.

When I go to the categories list in the backend, the category “Jednohubky” exists but its subcategories do not, so I can’t even delete them and rebuild them from scratch.

When I try to create these new subcategories again, I see that they already exist in the “Select Parent Category” drop-down.

So now it seems like WooCommerce thinks these subcategories don’t exist even though they have products assigned to them.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

As you state it works fine on the English version I wonder if the issue you are experiencing relates to the language file.

    This article may help: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-localization/

    I hope that helps

    Hi,

    Just a further thought

You indicate that the products are assigned to the relevant sub category

Could you confirm the sub categories are assigned to the parent category

    Thanks for your advice, Steve.

All the language settings are the same as before the update so I don’t think the problem is there.

The subcategories seem to be properly assigned to the parent categories (at least it looks that way on the product pages in the back-end). But that’s probably not the problem since the subcategories aren’t even showing up in the categories list.

    Best,

    Hi,

Just checking if you have tried creating a new category and assigning this to the parent category “Jednohubky” to see if this is visible.

Also have you tried assigning the products directly to the main category “Jednohubky” to see if they appear when you click the category “Jednohubky”

    Hi Steve,

So I was able to create new subcategories and they displayed properly. Unfortunately that left me with 2 phantom duplicate subcategories that were in the system and not deletable, but also not displaying.

Then I checked again this evening and the phantom subcategories had disappeared.

Still have no idea what was going on, but we’re in the clear for now.

Thanks so much for your help!
