    Hello

    I Set “Show subcategories” to “Category display”
    Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog

    I have added products to the categories. the categories are not empty.

    when I click onto the main parent category it just displays all of the products.

    Hi @hopefulness,

    Just to check, do you have a caching plugin? If yes, it might be serving cached versions of your shop page that do not have the categories or subcategories. Thus, kindly purge all cache from the plugin and also clear your browser cache then check again.

    If you do not have a caching plugin or the above does not resolve the issue, kindly do a conflict test. This will help you check if the categories and subcategories are displayed when you’re on a default WP theme with all plugins deactivated apart from WooCommerce.

    With thanks for your attention

    I did a conflict test.
    I deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce. the conflict no longer exists.
    It means that the plugins I deactivated were causing the conflict.

    Then, I activated plugins one by one.
    The problem occurred again when I active YITH WooCommerce AJAX Product Filter plugin.

    Hi @hopefulness,

    Glad to know that you managed to find the culprit by conflict testing! Now, as the plugin YITH WooCommerce AJAX Product Filter seems to be causing that strange behavior, get in touch with the plugin authors that will be assisting you and finding the reason behind this.

    I’m going to close this thread now as it’s not an issue related to the WooCommerce core default function. If you have more questions please open a new topic.

    I opened The Permalink Settings page and clicked Save.
    The problem is solved.
