Subcategories not displaying

    Hello Everyone, I had a problem with subcategories not displaying a while back, I’m having the issue again and the same procedure to fix it is not helping:

    The subcategories are not displayed in any of the parents.

    I have set the “display type” to subcategories but in the customizer and in the product category setting itself, which fixed this issue last time.

    Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated!

    Are your products in BOTH the parent and subcategory by chance?
    Try making a product that is ONLY in a subcategory and then make sure the “Category Display” is set to show subcategories:

    The products are just in the subcategory.

    I am not trying to display products in the parent categories, there are no products in them just subcategories in a few.

    Ie: Category 1 (subcategories only) -> Category 2 (contains subcategories only) > Category 3 (Contains products).

    I also have this problem since upgrading to the latest version. Previously the subcategories were shown as expected but now the parent category shows all the individual products. Products are only in subcategories and not in the parent category.

    I’d be very grateful of some guidance on how to resolve this.

    As for the Subcategories not showing, here’s what I’ve got on my test site:
    – WooCommerce 3.3.4
    – Twenty Seventeen
    – Customizer Settings: https://a.mikey.link/f7zOiW

    When I have all of that going:
    – On the SHOP I only see Categories
    – If a Category has a sub-category, I will see them and NOT the products
    – If a category has no sub-categories, I see products.

    Can you both try doing that same thing and seeing if you get different results? If you do, can you disable all plugins and try again?

    I can confirm on other sites I have setup recently yes, the subcategories do display.

    I have tried disabling all plugins, and even switching to the 2017 theme and still no luck.

    My site does work correctly if I change to the 2017 theme but of course that is not the look I am going for so any advice on how to make it work with my theme would be much appreciated.

    I would suggest talking to your theme author for help on that one, seeing if they have an update maybe?

    That is really strange. Can you try re-saving your products and categories and clearing the cache?
