I have created number of sub pages under different parent pages.

For example, on my website there is “Admissions” page which is sub page of “About” parent page.

When I click the link: https://vsa.edu.in/about/admissions/ it opens, but if I click on the link: https://vsa.edu.in/admissions/ it gives 404 error and returns to home (as I have set redirection for all 404 errors to my home page).

    Please help….

Both links were working correctly previously, but now there is some problem…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • As you have added sub-pages in the parent page, it is obvious that it will not work with a different path. (i.e. yourdomain.in/admissions)

And if it was working properly previously, it was wrong as there were duplicate pages of the same content, which is bad for SEO.

All in all, currently the page delivering a 404 error without the parent page is perfectly working and you should not make any changes in that.

Ok. I was ignorant about the duplicate page SEO issue.

Thank you so much for your quick reply and perfect guidance…!

I have created sub pages under different parent pages.

For example, on my website there is “car-door-glass-replacement” page which is sub page of services/door-glass/” parent page.

When I click the link:?https://autoglassmasters.ca/services/door-glass/car-door-glass-replacement/ it opens, but if I click on the link:?https://autoglassmasters.ca/car-door-glass-replacement?it is also open it should be redirect to 404 by default

    Please help….

i want if i click without parent page it should be redirect to 404
    please read my question

I got a crazy error where subpages dont render. If I remove the parent page from them, they start to show up.
Trying to get to the suboages give me Page 404. What can be a problem? I tried to reset permalinks and reset htaccess. It did not help. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Ok. I found what it was. I had a page and custom post type created by ACF of the same name.

My parent page name was company and I had a custom post type company. Changing it to another name solved the issue! Cheers!
