    Hi

Looking at other posts I know the sub menu’s are limited for the mobile version on the free version of Sixteen but is this also the case when looking at the full screen version of the site?

Depending on which browser is being used and if signed in as the Admin results vary but I’m getting problems when using the sub menu’s.

The First dropdown Menu seems to work ok for all but after that only some (usually between 1 and 3) links work on the next sub menu.

The third level sub menu disapears straight away.

    Thanks

  • On castles, church and schools, I’m seeing the third level sub menues in Google Chrome, no problem.

There’s no problem seeing that level it’s just that when you click on the menu Item the Links don’t always work for items further down the list.

For example if you go History -> Churches -> Graystown Church the link works fine and the Graystown church page is brought up but try History -> Churches -> St Mary’s Church nothing happens.

The ones that disappear are the next level down (level 4 overall)

For example Local Businesses -> A-B -> Bit and Bridle -> Special Offers.

The moment Bit and Bridle is highlighted Special Offers appears and then disappears straight away.

It does seem to vary by browser for example the St Mary’s link worked when I just tried it in Firefox but doesn’t in Chrome or IE. The disappearing 4th level items still seems to happen even in Firefox.

I’m using this theme. Just did a three level nesting under the main and got the same result. Fourth level down wouldn’t work. Maybe there is a max menu level in the theme?

Have you read this? Quite interesting.. https://sevenspark.com/wordpress/menu-item-limit

Curious – how did you completely disable right click on your site? I know there’s a plugin available to stop right click save as for images…

That’s what I was hoping to find out, there is a limit on sub menu’s when the site is viewed via a mobile, I was just wondering if this was part of that (the fact it varies by browser suggests it isn’t though).

The problem seems to be with the Theme (or the theme combined with something else) rather than a Server problem as in your link as with the previous two Themes tried out the Menu’s worked fine.

I do like the Sixteen Theme though and would rather not go back to a previous one. I may have to just simplify the menu structure if I can’t find a solution.

I’ve only just taken over the upkeep of the site and had never used WordPress up till last week but looking at the dashboard the plug in WP-Copyright-Protection is there which stops right clicks.

Might try disabling that on the off chance that’s causing the problem.

Yes, I finally found a plugin WP-CopyProtect, disables the whole thing.

One thing to bypass your problem would be to have the last menu item link to a page, and have all your links to the 4th level items inserted in the page. At least you can get your readers to where you want them to go… while you figure out the problem.

Yes, I like the Sixteen theme, it works very well for my needs. I just wish I knew how to disable that “mesh screen” overlay it puts over the header image. I need typing in my header and it obscures it too much for my tastes.
Good luck on your problem. I like your site – enjoyable!

Ended up just simplifying the top menu to one sub menu but used the full menu for the widget menu in the sidebar.
