• Hi there,

Im losing hair and getting grey at the same time not good.

What Im trying to achieve is a sub menu system like the left hand menu on this site.

    https://www.irrigate.net.au/management/on_farm/index.shtml

Basically in WP I will need to have all child pages load up, but be hidden until the parent is clicked or mouse over.. Not sure on where to even start.. Does any one have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

  • That Phil is called an accordion. Look up “javascript accordion” or “dhtml accordion” on the web.

Thanks for that, a google search will point me in the right direction for a CSS option to build it.

Though – How do I implement in WP,, ie where do I edit what do I edit…

    Cheers,

    Phil

I’m not sure if a CSS-based collapsing menu can be built to execute on one page without a lot of Javascript. If you really want CSS, and are willing to use a flyout menu instead, try searching on Son of Suckerfish. They use a little Javascript to account for the lack of support in IE for hover pseudoclass on anything but a link tag.

As for where do you edit, that depends on how your theme is built and where on the page you intend to put this menu.

I would just like to be sure I’m understanding this correctly before I start pulling out hanks of hair …

Is this correct … even though I set sub-pages under my main pages, WP will not display the sub-pages unless I myself add a menu that does this? (I tried it, I do not get any sub-pages.)

I don’t need anything as detailed as what 101Phil posted. I just need something that will display main pages w/one level of subbies under each main link. I’d like to do the same w/categories possibly.

    Thanks,
    MC
