hello, I have Yoast SEO premium, but wanted to try here first. If I disable the Yoast Plugin, there is no issues, so I need help resolving the conflict.

Top-level category post pages work fine (i.e., mysite.com/category1), but second and third-level pages give a 404 error (ie. mysite.com/category1/category1a/). I have saved the permalink structure as is without changing and the problem still persists.

    Please help, thanks.

  • Hi,

We understand you have Yoast SEO Premium. If you bought it from Yoast.com, we ask that you please send in a ticket to [email protected]. That way we can review account settings and if needed get permission to access your site for further inspection and review.

NOTE: We would also ask that you please make sure that all are updated prior to sending in a ticket.

    1. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO Premium, v14.4.1? If you update, does the issue resolve? This guide explains more about how to update: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-premium-plugin/.

    2. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    3. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.4.2? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider.?Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    Hello @jroli!

Thanks for getting back to us.

We need you to perform a conflict check. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. You may follow the steps here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts

I disabled all the non-yoast plugins on a staging site and activated twentytwenty theme. The categories pages are working as intended. Is the process now to activate each plugin and determine which one causes the conflict?

I went ahead and reactivated each plugin, one by one, and the problem no longer exists. strange. Going to try this on the production site, hopefully with same results.

I deactivated them all on the production site in the same way, and reactivated them, but still getting 404 error. Seems like some redirect somewhere is not allowing the page taxonomies to load

    Hello @jroli

You did mention that you had an active subscription for Yoast SEO Premium, is that correct?

If so, it would be better if you avail of premium support so we can take a look at this further — https://yoast.com/help/support/#premium
