StyleShop child theme not showing sidebar

I’m running the StyleShop theme from elegant themes.

Starting out as a newbie I made changes to the parent theme without creating a child theme.

Want I want to do now is create a child theme of the already modified theme and then update the parent theme where I don’t lose the customization already made to it. Is this even possible?

I created the child theme and activated it but the only problem is that my side bar does not show. I tried copying the entire content of the parent folder to the child folder but that did not help. Any ideas?

I created the child theme manually and also with the available plugin out there, both had the same result.
