    If hide WordPress version is checked, and a version is specified for a file at enqueue time, that version is also removed.

    It seems to me that a specific version when a file is enqueued should still show even when hiding the WordPress version is checked.

    We’re removing the comment that can show a potential attacker which WP version you are using. That’s just good security practice.
