• I work in a childtheme of twentyten. Everything works fine, except for updating my stylesheet. Colour changes I made yesterday became visible today and other alterations I just made aren’t (not jet) visible online!

    The changes ARE saved in the stylesheet, but just not visible when I visit my site. What can I do to speed this up?

    (The style sheet of my other website, using a custom theme, works fine, by the way)

    Thanks for your help!

    Have you refreshed the browser? Unless you have an anti-caching mechanism in place, stylesheets are often cached by the browser until you force a refresh. Control-R or command-R on Mac, or use your browser’s refresh button or menu item.

    I’ve refreshed so often, every time hoping for the result… like I wrote, my other site’s stylesheet’s working fine. When I refresh over there it becomes visible immideately.

    https://www.bewustzijnsvormen.nl I REALLY want to get rid of that pink…

    I see a pink background too, which means that your stylesheet either hasn’t been uploaded as you think it has, or perhaps it’s been uploaded to the wrong directory?

    I still see this:

    #wrapper {
    	background: #efcfd1
    ;

    in this file:

    Well, my stylesheet is in the directory I called ‘Twenten Child’, which is uploaded and activated as my current theme. So I don’t know what could go wrong there… Maybe other files?

    Yesterday it was white, my wrapper background. But because it seemed that the changes I made didn’t come through I tried to do something drastic, I made it pink. That didn’t worked, my wrapper stayed white. Until this morning, it had ‘suddenly’ became pink! Now I’ve made changes again, but it seems that I have to wait a night and that tomorrow my changes will suddenly appear.
    I really don’t understand why though…
    And I hate working this way. I just want t change a few things, but if I have to wait 12 hours every change, it’ll take me months to finish this.

    Thanks for your support.

    Are you using FTP to upload your style.css file?

    Thread Starter kmkoetsveld

    (@kmkoetsveld)

    We wrote at the same time.

    This is very weird! The same file downloaded with ftp shows:

    #wrapper {
    background: #ffffff
    ;

    and that’s what I changed! How can it be that it’s my current file on my ftp but my website is showing an old file?

    Thanks again!

    No, usually I make my changes when I’m logged in at wp-admin in appearence/editor/stylesheet.php

    Can you try uploading the style.css file via FTP instead, to see if it makes a difference?

    Thread Starter kmkoetsveld

    (@kmkoetsveld)

    Did that, but it doesn’t make any difference…

    Gosh, I don’t know what else to suggest. So bizarre. If you want to send me your style.css file and your FTP login info I’d be glad to try from this end. You can contact me here: https://www.zoonini.com/get-in-touch.php

    It’s white! What did you do? ??

    Thank you so much for your help.

    My husband thinks it’s a caching problem so I’ll call my webhosting sevice in the morning (it’s about bedtime over here).

    I don’t think having you ftp it again will help, but thanks for offering. And I do like the animals on you site very much!

    Thanks!
