    Hello,

When I activate the styles plugin 1.0.9 I have layout problems.
    1. the welcome page is oke but the other pages are smaller
    2. in IE7 and IE8 everything goes to the left (text and picture)

When I deactivate the styles plugin the complete layout incl. IE7 and IE8 is oke.

I spend many hours but cannot find the solution.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.

    Hi wholthof,

Thanks for trying out Styles! It looks like Styles isn’t active on your site right now, so it’s difficult to guess at what the issue might be for IE7/8.

I did go and test some settings in the Styles demo for TwentyTwelve and things appear okay there for IE8, so my first guess is that the issue may have to do either with the specific settings you chose in Styles, or more likely, some of the CSS in your TwentyTwelve child theme.

As a first step in identifying the issue, can you try switching back to the default TwentyTwelve theme, then see if Styles still causes issues for you in IE7/8? If that resolves the issue, then there’s something causing a conflict in your child theme’s CSS. The next step would be to copy out half of your custom CSS at a time, save, and check if the error still exists. Do that until you get down to the line causing the issue.

If that step shows that there’s nothing wrong with your child theme, can you provide some specifics on what changes you set in Styles that caused the issue to happen? If you try those same changes in the TwentyTwelve demo, do you still get the same problem? Can you provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

Thanks for reporting your issue! By working through some of these items, we should be able to find you and others a quick solution to this problem. ??

    Hoi Paul,

When I activate styles plugin 1.0.10 then all pages are 1 inch smaller and
by IE7 and IE8 the tekst are links line-out on the page.
This problem is with twentytwelve-child and also only with twentytwelve theme. Now I have the styles plugin deactivated.

Thanks for the input wholthof. Sounds like the problem is being caused by your custom code in your child theme, then. My earlier post details one strategy for finding the problem code.

If you take time to identify the specific code in your custom theme that’s causing this interaction with Styles, I’ll be happy to suggest a solution. Unfortunately, I don’t have availability to audit your custom theme for you this weekend.

Feel free to follow-up with the code sample if you find it. In the meantime, I’m going to mark this thread as resolved, since the solution lies in modifying the custom code in your child theme, not in any known error with the Styles plugin.

PS: This is the text I was referring to for finding your problem code in your child theme:

If that resolves the issue, then there’s something causing a conflict in your child theme’s CSS. The next step would be to copy out half of your custom CSS at a time, save, and check if the error still exists. Do that until you get down to the line causing the issue.
