• Hi everyone.

I did a bit of search but did not find an answer, hoping someone might have an idea.

I’m running a wordpress install locally to mess around with it, before I start working on my real page. It’s installed on a Ubuntu (9.10) OS, with the typical LAMP serving set up. On that machine, WordPress is served properly, and shows exactly as expected. I also have a regular web page with PHP and CSS, on that machine, which runs properly as well.

However, when I point my regular PC’s browser (win7, firefox or IE 8), to the Ubuntu PC, the WordPress page, but all the style and images are not loading, so I get a plain text web page. Also, I can’t see the admin page on the other PC.

I’ve tried all I could think about, set the permissions to 755 on everything, made root the owner of everything in my /www/ folder, to no avail. Yes, that is the extend of my knowledge… What am I missing?

Thanks for any hint that could make this headache go away ??

  • What url did you use for the site url in Admin/Settings/General? If it’s localhost, remember that all machines will class themselves as “localhost”
