I am NOT happy with your latest update. I have to have an account with WordPress.com just so I can register with you, in order to have my logs SENT and STORED with you? And now I have no access to my previous records unless I “migrate” them to your service.

Sorry, no. I don’t want a plugin that calls the hijacking of my client’s data “a feature upgrade”. That is an outrageous decision on your part, and to spring it on us smacks of a trojan horse. I half expect you to one day notify your users that you no longer offer a free account and all their data will now be ransomed.

I am angry because I have a lot of clients websites that I need to now remove this plugin from. Corporations who have strict security policies and do not allow any of their data offsite.

    Thanks.

  • I agree but it’s not just about security policies it’s about practicality. We use this plugin on over 300+ sites! I’m not going to login to each one and register it with wordpress.com. Unless this is removed unfortunately we’re going to have to disable and remove this once fantastic plugin. Very disappointed.

I thought that this was a very strange decision as well, you can still download the old version.

Thanks for the link! I am very grateful.

I was very angry with the latest “update”. Because of our company security policy, I just can’t allow to our data be transmitted somewhere into the cloud.

I really appreciate everyone chiming in your thoughts here. As wormeyman said, the Stream plugin is open source, so all versions of the plugin will always be on GitHub, forever, for free.

If you have a moment, please check out the interview below where I recently got to dive into some of the the technical details about Stream pivoting to a service instead of just another plugin, and the reasons why.
