stumped at the start

I’m trying to migrate from MT to WP. My site is hosted by a earthlink,which claims they are running php 4.1. They are also running Perl 5.004. I myself am running a Mac with OSX 10.3.3.
I just installed WP, but when I run the install-config.php file, I have no idea what its asking for about the database name, location, etc. MT does this automatically, so I don’t know what this means. What info do I put here?
2) So, skipping that part, I tried running the install.php file, and in Netscape 7 or IE, all I get is the text of the file running through the page. In Safari, I get a partial page, and partial code gibberish.
Can someone tell me what’s going on? Ack!!!
