• I checked my site this morning to be greeted by an HTTP 500 error.

I contacted my host (Bluehost) who pointed me to the Process View in cPanel and indicated something was “stuck”. I needed to kill all processes with “index” or “cron” in them.

After playing “whack-a-mole” for ten minutes, I put an index.html file in my webroot so visitors would see SOMETHING and renamed index.php. Then I was able to kill all of the processes.

However, when I put things back I’m still getting the error.

I suspect I have a misbehaving plugin. I’m planning to clear out my plugins directory and see if I can get the site back. (There’s not much I can do now being at my “day job”.)

Is there anything else I should be looking at? What if dropping all the plugins doesn’t work?
