Stuck on “you’ve updated” page

    Trying to use the admin interface to Mailpoet 2.7.8 I’m stuck on the page which says

    You’ve updated to MailPoet 2.7.8
    You have been a MailPoet user for 3 years.
    Wow! Thanks for being part of our community for so long.
    Keep this plugin essentially free

    I’ve tried clicking on “Thanks Now take me to MailPoet” and on the links to Newsletters, Subscribers, Settings.
    I can’t find a way to get past this page to perform the normal MailPoet admin functions.

    Problem solved (I think)

    I thought I would try to fix the problem by editing the code of helpers/update.php.
    Unfortunately my update broke the WordPress dashboard completely.

    So I backed out my change and then as well are restoring the WordPress dashboard, the admin interface to MailPoet started working again.

    Very strange…

    So now I don’t know if the issue was caused by a cache not having been cleared or some other factor which has mysteriously gone away.
