Stuck on ‘Generating Preview’

    I use this plugin on several sites but all of a sudden it’s failing to retrieve the screenshots from the external service and is just displaying ‘Generating Preview…’

    I’ve reproduced the problem with a free WordPress sandbox site (see the URL) so I don’t believe it’s a problem with my own infrastructure.

    I can confirm same problem here. All screenshots in “Generating preview” status.
    Probably service stopped for image generation and hosting.

    Hi – it looks like there might be a problem with the service that generates these images.

    Unfortunately I don’t work there so I have no control over it, but I’ll see if I can work out what’s going on.

    I have the same problem on 4 sites that I manage and use this plug-in.
    The problem is also occurring on the Gravatar service

    So, it would appear to be a problem with the API on WordPress mshots.
    I also access this service via some custom php, and this is also not functioning, so definitely not a problem with the plug-in!!

    I have just checked now and it seems to be loading again. Hopefully it was just a temporary glitch.

    Working everywhere for me now – thanks for investigating!

    I can confirm it is working again.
    I wish there was an option to save the screenshot locally.

    Yes I would like this option too. I only need a one-off screenshot that can be used in perpetuity, not something regularly refreshed.

    Glad it’s working now!

    An option to save screenshots would be cool. Maybe if there was a setting you could opt in to. Unfortunately I don’t know if it’s possible. Because I’m using a third party service I don’t have any control over things like that. I’ll keep it in mind though – maybe I’ll be able to think of something.
