    Hi everyone,

I’m having issues with a new site that is stuck on the setup loop. Right after I click on the “sign in with google” I choose my google account then it quicks me out to the WordPress login and then it’s back to the same page. The site was previously set up with another hosting.

I already tried to reset, reinstall the plugin, and use other Google accounts and the issue persists. Is it possible to reset my account on the Google side?

It’s literally the same URL, nothing has changed and I did try that before. about a week ago you said you could reset something and we just needed to try a few more steps. Is there anyone you can escalate this to get it reset?

Unfortunately we’re currently not able to do remote site resets. This may soon change but I don’t have a timeframe on that. While the URL may have been the same do you recall if it includes the www prefix, or did you previously have a custom wp-admin path which has since been changed again?

You can change your site URLs to include the www prefix here if they are not currently set to that and check your Site Kit once more.

I appreciate your cooperation throughout this process and these steps will help towards narrowing down the cause of the issue you’re facing.

I tried that and still the same. So there is no way to escalate this or get any fix that actually works?

    Hi @gaiatros,

Thanks again for your patience as we’ve worked through troubleshooting with you –?I know it’s so frustrating to keep trying different things only to find that they’re not working, either.

The site reset that you see us referring to in other topics is a way to clear your site URL in the intermediate “service” that allows the Site Kit plugin to connect to Google services like Analytics. Often times, a reset is necessary when a site URL has changed, e.g. someone changed their site URL from staging.website.com to just website.com. The reset allows you to go through the setup process again from scratch so that Site Kit no longer is “looking” for the old URL.

While you haven’t changed your site URL, we find that a reset is often useful for issues like yours where a loop is occurring for some unidentified reason. We can’t guarantee that that will be the fix, but it does usually do the trick with issues like these.

Unfortunately, as my colleague Adam noted, some of our internal tooling is changing and that means that the reset option isn’t available at the moment. We are working on an alternative right now, but we don’t have a timeline for it just yet.

As a next step, I’d recommend that we hold on troubleshooting for now so that we don’t waste any more of your time, and we can update you in this topic as soon as the reset option is available again and we’ve been able to reset your Site Kit connection. We can check with our team today to try to get a better idea of timeline on this.

Thank you again for your patience and for bearing with the changes on our side!

    Hi again @gaiatros,

@adamdunnage and I synced up with our team today and while we can’t do a reset just yet, we were able to look your site URL up in the “service” that I mentioned. In the service, your site URL is heywelcometoearth.com (*without* www) but your current site URL is actually www.heywelcometoearth.com (*with* www).

This difference can cause the sign in loop that you’re seeing. As Adam had noted before, changing your site URLs in Settings > General so that they do *not* include www should allow you to successfully set up Site Kit. Can you give that a try and let us know how things go?

    Thank you!

    Thanks Bethany,

At the moment I would like to keep the www on the URLs. I also noticed another site having the same issues. Could you please let me know when a solution to reset this becomes available? Thanks

    Hi there @gaiatros,

I can certainly do that, but I unfortunately don’t have a timeframe on when that will be available.

Since the issue here is the mismatch between the URL on the Site Kit service and what is defined in your WordPress settings, an alternative solution would be for you to:

    1. Change your site URLs in Settings > General to remove the www from your site URL
    2. Reset Site Kit
    3. Go through the Site Kit setup process – you should be able to set up successfully since your site URLs will match what Site Kit is expecting
    4. Change your site URLs *back* in Settings > General to add the www once again

I know it’s a little tedious, but it’s the quickest solution that should get you up and running. ?? If that doesn’t work or if you’d instead prefer to wait for a reset, please let me know. I’ll mark this topic as unresolved for now so that I can follow it more easily while we work through next steps. Thank you!

Hi @gaiatros! Just checking in here. Were you able to make the updates I noted above and get things working?
