We are a longtime PayPal user and have for years been accepting credit card payments via PayPal on our site with another plugin. With this plugin, wewere unable to connect to our PayPal account automatically, but successfully connected with manual settings. However, under the card processing tab, it says we are still in “onboarding.” This status has been showing for more than a week with no change.

Message on the card processing tab: “Credit Card processing for your account has not yet been activated by PayPal. If your account is new, this can take some days. Otherwise, please get in contact with PayPal.”

  • Same issue here and after contacting PayPal MTS they have recommended a different plugin rather than onboarding us.

Does anyone know how to enable credit card processing?

    Hello @kroseman & @torlock,

Here you can find a list of supported countries/currencies for the PayPal Card Processing:
    https://developer.paypal.com/docs/business/checkout/reference/currency-availability-advanced-cards/
When your merchant account is set to one of these countries and the business registration is complete, then it should just work. Otherwise, only the PayPal merchant support could verify that the account is set up correctly.
But even when the PayPal Card Processing is not available for your account or region, normal credit card payments within the regular checkout frame should still work.

Have you tried to connect with a PayPal Sandbox account from the same region with the same result?
If you open a support ticket with us, we could take a closer look at your sites and maybe even bring it up with PayPal directly.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Thanks for the reply.

I have a feeling that it is to do with this being a pre-existing PayPal account rather than a new one (or newer as our PayPal is many years old now). I haven’t tried to connect the plugin with sandbox just yet but using the link on the advanced processing page is like making a whole new account with entirely new payment terms, though we already have a sandbox account under the same email.

I’m slightly concerned that we need to make some sort account “upgrade” in order to be compatible with and enable this feature which might feed back into the existing fee structure we’ve negotiated under new terms.

This is a UK based business PayPal account if that helps.

I will try testing the feature with this sandbox account shortly and report back.

We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

We are still stuck in onboarding, but appreciate your advice. PayPal responded, but was not what we were expecting…directing us to a different plugin. So, still stuck, but indefinitely so should probably close this thread.
